Rainlendar Lite Editor's Review

Rainlendar is a desktop calendar. It's small, lightweight and customisable, with various different skins available to help the program blend right into your existing desktop theme. It is simple to use, allowing you to easily set up reminders for events and tasks.

Rainlendar lives on your desktop. Instead of adding yet another Taskbar icon, its icon appears in the Notifications area. It is an unobtrusive, "widget-like" application that won't contribute to desktop clutter.

You can set up events in considerable detail. Once you've created an event, you can choose to have it reoccur at intervals; you can also set exceptions, for example holidays. There's a handy progress bar for tasks that are currently ongoing, which appears behind the task name.
You can set up hotkeys to create certain tasks.

The program lets you set up alarms for important events or tasks. These appear on the desktop and can be moved around or hidden if you wish; there's also a snooze button if you need a little more time to finish up what you're doing. Alerts are small and attractive, gentle reminders rather than annoying intrusions. 

Rainlendar comes with useful plugins, allowing you to integrate it with other applications such as Outlook.

Pros: Discreet, customisable

Cons: Adding new skins is difficult
